The Computer Enthusiasts Group is aimed at u3a members who are already using computers or mobile devices (mobile phones or tablets) and wish to learn how to use it better.  We cover a variety of topics and sometimes simply have Q&A sessions.  We also encourage members to share their knowledge with others.

The group caters for users of Android and Apple devices, as well as Windows and Mac computers. If you have:

  • Laptop Apple Ipad
  • a computer, tablet and/or smartphone user
  • enjoy doing things on any of these devices
  • like to learn more about using some programs or apps and like to share your own experience with other enthusiasts then this group may be of interest to you.

The topics will depend on the knowledge and interests of members and it will be about sharing ideas and learning from one another.

Examples of topics that could be covered are:

  • Word processing tips and advice (Microsoft Word or Google Docs)
  • Slideshows (Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides)
  • Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets)
  • Useful apps for your mobile devices
  • Settings on mobile devices
  • Organising and editing your own photos, creating photo books or even a video of your own photos and videos with music and commentary
  • Using social media, e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Our u3a activities are risk assessed. If you take part in any group activity you must read the risk assessment.
