We held our launch meeting on 4th November and our first meeting on 23rd November 2015 when, to set the scene, 9 members presented and discussed a piece of 'Art' that had caught their imagination. Topics covered included: Art Deco; 2 modern landscape paintings by Brian Turner, a friend of one of the members; The Terracotta Warriors; a Picasso line drawing and 2 vases; The Taj Mahal; an Icon of Christ and how Icons are produced; Rene Lalique and examples of his coloured glassware in the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon; and The Girl with the Pearl Earring.

We aim to research, explore and learn to appreciate and enjoy all aspects of 'Art', whether architecture, ceramics, glassware, pottery, paintings or sculpture, etc.

Members choose a subject to research and normally one person will make a presentation with others adding their comments.

After a break of a few months, five of us met in October '23 to restart the group and we can now (September 2025) report that with new members, the group is thriving.
