Mahjong is a brilliant game! If you’ve never played before, we can help you. One of our members has produced a guide which tells you everything you need to know and will help you learn. If you have played already, you will know that there are many different rules. By using our guide we are all able to know which hands we play in our group.

The Mahjong group welcomes new members. We like to get there between 10.00 and 10.30 and have a coffee together in the cafe, before we play. If you aren’t sure what the game of mahjong is all about, why not pop in and watch? You’ll probably soon get hooked! There is a fee of £3 to pay for the cost of the room rental.

The group has four sets, and members have additional sets if we have more than 16 people playing.

Many of us were beginners at the start, but are now quite good! We have a few very experienced members who are happy to help newcomers, but also welcome a more advanced game. So whether you’ve played before or are a complete beginner, do join us. It's a great way to start the week and certainly exercises the mind!

Our u3a activities are risk assessed. If you take part in any group activity you must read the risk assessment.
